Tracey
Tracey Tucker began working exclusively as an illustrator about four years
ago, but that wasn't the beginning of her illustrative career. She
comes from a family of art lecturers (parents and both sets of grandparents)
and was playing with paint from an early age. Growing up in a family
that expected her to draw naturally meant that she chose to train as a photographer
(which surprised everyone - including herself). However, when working
as a picture editor and photographer, she would draw in the evenings after
work for the magazines and newspapers that she edited for during the day. Tracey
worked this way for 10 years. She worked as the picture editor for
Country Life magazine and for various Times Supplements before giving up
picture desks altogether, to work as an illustrator full time. Her
clients have included Hallmark cards, baby magazines in New York, Irish
Tatler, Elle, Nursery World, Teacher magazine, the Times Supplements and
of course Country Life.
